The Health & Safety Reform Bill has been introduced to Parliament in 2014. Due to come into force on 1 April 2015, the Act represents a major change to New Zealand’s health and safety system. The Bill is aimed at reducing New Zealand’s workplace injury and death toll by 25% by 2020. Case law has already demonstrated penalties for the failure of companies to take all practicable steps to ensure the safety of employees while at work. This is likely to inspire many companies to purchase lifting equipment.
