In regards to the accumulation of stuff, Instant Manifestation Secrets grownups tend to follow a pattern something like this. We work hard and get our basic needs met. We buy a house, a car, a stove, a TV, and some shoes. We have what we need to live a satisfactory material life, so our focus shifts to other things. Most grownups on this path worked hard to buy the things they needed, and when they did, it made them happy. Quite naturally then, they bought a few more things, thinking that they could get back that happy feeling. Makes sense.

However, they discovered that while buying the things they needed to move them from having not enough to having enough, did indeed make them happy, buying stuff to take them from enough to more than enough didn't have the same emotional payoff. So grownups learn from their mistakes, and after a few iterations of this process, it dawns on them that the considerable energy and effort it takes to make purchases, and the hidden costs in time and energy to maintain the things we purchase, just isn't worth it. So after a while, mature people don't make that same mistake. Grownup tastes shift to the simpler pleasures of life, people, reading, friendship, family, or some such thing.

This shift makes mature, grownup, prudent people really bad consumers, and of course, marketers find this to be a problem. Prudence and judgment are problems for an economy that is founded on people buying things they don't really need.
